To celebrate this special sesquicentennial year, and with kind permission of the Hudson Bay Company and the Moose Factory Photography Class, the OWC and the MoCreebec Eeyoud Council has run a very special version of our Story Starters Contest this summer, featuring photographs, both modern and historic, from the Moose Factory area. There is a rich history of storytelling in the area, whether it be through art, song, dance, photography or other media, and we at the OWC are working with the MoCreebec Eeyoud Council to encourage storytelling through the medium of writing in order to promote creative writing and storytelling initiatives for Canada 150 and Ontario 150.
The contest garnered just under 100 entries over a 9 week period and it gives us great pleasure to honour the short-list of writers, who will progress to final judging by Canadian author/teacher/mentor Ruth E. Walker and senior development officer of the MoCreebec Eeyoud Council, Jean Pierre Chabot.

The winners will be announced at the Coffee House event, Friday, August 25th at the Eco-lodge in Moose Factory, Ontario and will be posted on our website (www.thewritersconference.com).
